Dua before sleeping

اللَّهُمَّ أَسْلَمْتُ نَفْسِي إِلَيْكَ، وَفَوَّضْتُ أَمْرِي إِلَيْكَ، وَوَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِي إِلَيْكَ، وَأَلْجَأْتُ ظَهْرِي إِلَيْكَ، رَغْبَةً وَرَهْبَةً إِلَيْكَ، لَا مَلْجَأَ وَلَا مَنْجَا مِنْكَ إِلَّا إِلَيْكَ، آمَنْتُ بِكِتَابِكَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ، وَبِنَبِيِّكَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتَ
Transliteration
Allahumma aslamtu nafsi ilaika, wa fawwadtu amri ilaika, wa wajjahtu wajhi ilaika, wa alja’tu dhahri ilaika, raghbatan wa rahbatan ilaika, la malja’a wa la manja minka illa ilaika, amantu bikitabika allathee anzalta, wa binabiyyika allathee arsalta.
Translation
O Allah, I submit my soul to You, and I entrust my affairs to You, and I turn my face towards You, and I rely on You, in hope and fear of You. There is no refuge and no escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed, and in Your Prophet whom You have sent.
Reference: This supplication is found in Sahih al-Bukhari (Hadith 6311) and Sahih Muslim (Hadith 2710). The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) recommended reciting this dua before going to sleep as a way of surrendering oneself to Allah and seeking His protection through the night.
The Hadith is, Al-Bara’ b. ‘Azib reported that Allah’s Messenger (in ﷺ) commanded a person (in these words):
When you go to bed during night, you should say:” O Allah, I surrender myself to You and entrust my affair to You, with hope in You and fear of You. There is no resort and no deliverer (from hardship but You). I affirm my faith in the Book which You revealed and in the Messengers whom You sent.” If you die in this state you would die on Fitra, and Ibn Bashshdr did not make a mention of” night” in this hadith.
