Dua for Taqwa (piety)
Arabic
ٱللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَٱلتُّقَىٰ وَٱلْعَفَافَ وَٱلْغِنَىٰ
Transliteration
Allāhumma innī as’aluka l-hudā wa-t-tuqā wa-l-ʿafāfa wa-l-ghinā.
Translation
O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency.
Reference: ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Prophet (ﷺ) used to supplicate: “Allahumma inni as’alukal-huda, wat-tuqa, wal-‘afafa, wal-ghina (O Allah! I beseech You for guidance, piety, chastity and contentment).”

Translating to “O Allah, I ask You for guidance,” this powerful dua is a heartfelt plea for Allah’s (SWT) wisdom in navigating the trials and tribulations of life. The words “Allahumma Inni As’alukal Huda” encapsulate a believer’s earnest desire to be led on the path of truth, righteousness, and steadfastness.
