Dua During a Storm

Translation
O Allah, I ask You for the goodness of it, the goodness within it, and the goodness it was sent with, and I seek refuge with You from its evil, the evil within it, and the evil it was sent with.
Reference: ‘Ata’ b. Rabah reported on the authority of ‘A’isha, the wife of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), who said:
Whenever the wind was stormy, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to say: O Allah! I ask You for what is good in it, and the good which it contains, and the good of that which it was sent for. I seek refuge with You from what is evil in it, what evil it contains, and the evil of that what it was sent for; and when there was a thunder and lightning in the sky, his colour underwent a change, and he went out and in, backwards and forwards; and when the rain came, he felt relieved, and I noticed that (the sign of relief) on his face. ‘A’isha asked him (about it) and he said: It may be as the people of ‘Ad said: When they saw a cloud formation coming to their valley they said:” It is a cloud which would give us rain” (Qur’an, xlvi. 24).

Reference: Narrated Sharik bin `Abdullah bin Abi Namir:
I heard Anas bin Malik saying, “On a Friday a person entered the main Mosque through the gate facing the pulpit while Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) was delivering the Khutba. The man stood in front of Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and said, ‘O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) ! The livestock are dying and the roads are cut off; so please pray to Allah for rain.’ ” Anas added, “Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) raised both his hands and said, ‘O Allah! Bless us with rain! O Allah! Bless us with rain! O Allah! Bless us with rain!’ ” Anas added, “By Allah, we could not see any trace of cloud in the sky and there was no building or a house between us and (the mountains of) Sila.” Anas added, “A heavy cloud like a shield appeared from behind it (i.e. Sila’ Mountain). When it came in the middle of the sky, it spread and then rained.” Anas further said, “By Allah! We could not see the sun for a week. Next Friday a person entered through the same gate and at that time Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) was delivering the Friday’s Khutba. The man stood in front of him and said, ‘O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) ! The livestock are dying and the roads are cut off, please pray to Allah to withhold rain.’ ” Anas added, “Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) I raised both his hands and said, ‘O Allah! Round about us and not on us. O Allah! On the plateaus, on the mountains, on the hills, in the valleys and on the places where trees grow.’ So the rain stopped and we came out walking in the sun.” Sharik asked Anas whether it was the same person who had asked for the rain (the last Friday). Anas replied that he did not know.

Please Note: Maximum of supplications in Islam often address multiple aspects, such as a prayer to avoid haram (forbidden) actions might also mention relief from debt, or a prayer for health might include a plea for protection from the punishment of the grave. You might find the same supplication under different headings in my various posts because I will mention them wherever relevant.
Another point I want to highlight is that I have included only the specific parts of Quranic verses and Hadith that are actual supplications. You can look up the reference numbers to read the full verses or Hadith to understand their contexts. Reading the full context will enhance your understanding and appreciation of the supplications. That’s why I recommend you to read the reference.

As always I seek refuge in Allah Almighty from all kinds of harm and pray that He makes my work easy. I also pray that He considers this effort a means of salvation for us in this world and the hereafter. Whatever is good in my writing is entirely a blessing from Allah Almighty, and any faults are due to Satan (Devil) and my own lack of knowledge. JazakAllah. (Thank you).
